A Pathway to the “Outstanding” Shireland Collegiate Academy
If your child attends Shireland Technology Primary, they will have an increased chance of securing a place at Shireland Collegiate Academy for secondary education.
When Shireland Collegiate Academy is oversubscribed, places are allocated according to the admissions criteria agreed with the local authority, applied in the following order:
- Looked After Children (LAC) or previously Looked After Children.
- Pupils demonstrating aptitude in the arts.
- Siblings of pupils already attending the academy.
- Pupils who attended Shireland Technology Primary.
- Distance from the school.
This process is similar to admissions policies at many other secondary schools and ensures fairness and transparency.
By attending Shireland Technology Primary, your child is given a stronger position within the admissions process, increasing their likelihood of securing a place at Shireland Collegiate Academy. However, this does not guarantee a place, as all applications are subject to fair banding tests and the criteria outlined above.
Additionally, attending Shireland Technology Primary allows your child to continue their education on the same site, progressing from primary through to Shireland Collegiate Academy and its Sixth Form.
